European Parkinson's Nurses Network
European Parkinson's Nurses Network

Who We Are

Following four years of discussion, and with the support of the European Parkinson's Disease Association (EPDA), a group of PD Nurse Specialists from Israel, Netherlands and UK, and chaired by Kirsten Turner came together in March 2003 to form a European Parkinson's Nurses Network (EPNN).

Their aim is to develop a European Nurses Organisation, registered in Brussels, with its own Memorandum & Articles.

The objectives of the Association, which will be non-political, non-religious and non-profit making, are supportive and Educational. To this end, the Association, will seek, in co-operation with their members to:

  • Increase the profile of PD Nurse Specialists and develop nursing expertise through organised research programmes and by sharing knowledge
  • Enable individual PD nurses, representatives of education and healthcare institutions and representatives of relevant organisations to discuss, share and develop ideas about Parkinson's treatment and management
  • Provide quality based knowledge to improve the care of people with Parkinson's and those who care for them
  • Develop aspects of treatment and rehabilitation for people with Parkinson's and their carers which might be used to provide an information and advice service to European PD Nurses
  • Publish the results of the work carried out by the EPNN as widely as possible
  • Establish a supportive network for nurses working with people with Parkinson's so that Best Practice can be shared and developed
  • Provide a platform through which many PD Nurses who work in isolation may reach their full potential, professionally, educationally and personally
