First Satellite Symposium and Business Meeting

At the EPDA 5th multidisciplinary conference 'Working in Harmony - The Team Approach', held in Lisbon Portugal from 6 - 9 May 2004, the EPNN held their first Satellite Symposium addressing the assessment and management strategies of important topics such as Depression and Suicide, Hypersexuality and Psychosis, all of which have a tremendous impact on quality of life.

This Satellite was followed by a Press Conference, launching the EPNN Journal, a publication which aims to:

• Be a vehicle for networking with international PDNS individuals/groups to exchange and promote higher standards of care
• Encourage collaboration and partnership with international nurses and healthcare professionals to exchange expertise and knowledge in the management and care of people with Parkinson's and their families to improve quality of life
• Develop a supportive network for PD nurses and other qualified professionals working with or in regular contact with people with Parkinson's and their families

At the EPNN's first Business Meeting that followed the Press Conference they discussed:

• Draft Memorandum & Articles
• Agreed that application for registration as an Association in Brussels should proceed
• PD Guidelines
• Identifying Professional Boundaries
• Developing and building partnerships with International Nursing and other health organisations
