Parkinson’s is difficult to diagnose because there is no specific test for the condition. Symptoms vary from person to person and a number of other illnesses have similar symptoms, which means misdiagnoses can occur.
Everyone’s experience is different but for some people, receiving a diagnosis of Parkinson’s is almost a relief as they finally have a reason for the symptoms they have been experiencing.
Parkinson’s can affect people of all ages. Young onset Parkinson’s (YOPD) is defined as occurring in someone below the age of 40.
